The ErgoDynamic is the world's lightest forearm crutch with active impact protection, an FDI innovation built around a patented integrated shock absorber. With every step it cushions impact and helps prevent joint trauma to the wrist, elbow and shoulder, making it ideal for long-term, everyday crutch users.

Why choose the ErgoDynamic?

  • Patented shock absorption: absorbs impact silently to reduce strain on wrists, elbows and shoulders.
  • Ultra-lightweight: just 613–620 g per crutch, yet supports users up to 130 kg.
  • Three sizes for tailored shock absorption and a precise fit (see sizing below).
  • 12-position height adjustment in 25 mm increments for a correct, comfortable fit.
  • Replaceable anti-slip base, grip and forearm protection for a longer service life.

Choosing your size

  • Size S: recommended for users up to 60 kg

Commitment to quality.

In order to guarantee the quality, FDI selects its raw material suppliers with the utmost care. All suppliers meet international standards and are able to provide the relevant certificates.

The walking aids are subject to comprehensive testing by CERAH (Centre for Studies and Research on Equipment for the Disabled). These tests aim to ensure the mechanical and thermal compliance of our products with the NF EN ISO 11334-1 standard.

None of the components used show any permanent deformation or breakage at the end of these tests.

Finally, all our products are designed without phthalates or latex.

Resistance To Fatigue.

A load force corresponding to a maximum user weight of 130 kg is applied one million times to the walking stick at its maximum extension using a dummy arm.

Low temperature fragilisation.

We test the low-temperature resistance of the materials used to manufacture our walking sticks. To do this, the FDI walking stick is weakened by being placed in an environment at -25°C for 24 hours. It is then subjected to a series of drops, which must not reveal any cracks or breaks.

Static load resistance.

FDI walking sticks must be able to withstand a static load of 130 kg without weakening. To achieve this, a load force is applied to the stick at maximum extension using a dummy arm, methodically reproducing a load increase of 1,300 newtons over 10 seconds.

Resistance to seperation.

Separation tests are carried out on our walking sticks to ensure the safety of each assembly. To do this, a tensile force of 500 newtons is applied for 10 seconds to the upper and lower parts of the walking stick. No component of the walking stick must come apart.
